Trying to stay busy

April 15, 2010 Leave a comment

It’s been longer than I had planned for an update, I’m sorry. I’m still completely exhausted and it honestly has not crossed my mind. But, since I have made a promise to myself that I will write and read my brothers new script today, I decided I should definitely take time to update.

For some reason I’ve been dying to go to Alaska over the past two days. I’ve never been there before, and I am not really sure what’s driving me to visit it so badly, for some reason I just have been wanting to go. I know it’s beautiful, that’s one of the reasons. I don’t know, it’s wierd. I definitely want to go though.

This is random,  but I decided to look of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts this morning. I was curious to see how much sugar was in them. Turns out there is only ten grams of sugar in original glazed doughnuts. I couldn’t believe it. I was sure there couldn’t be any less than twenty, but I was wrong. Actually they are all lower than I expected.

I have not yet finished The Gossamer. I actually stopped reading it. It wasn’t bad, I was just so tired when I started it, that I had no motivation to continue.  Now that I have a bit more energy, I’m not as interested in reading it at the moment. So, I’m currently re-reading my favorite book of all time, The Book of Lost Things. It’s amazing. If you haven’t read it, you should pick up a copy today.

I went to the hospital on Monday for my check up. It turns out that my surgeon doesn’t want to do the second surgery until I’ve gained at least ten pounds. Now that may not sound too difficult for some of you, but for a person who has to 100% stay away from wheat and gluten, it’s practically impossible. Of course, I can’t tell him that, cause he’d say that wheat and gluten should not be a problem, because he is a doctor, but I know better. I’ve been eating like mad over the past week and three days, and have not gained even one pound. I haven’t lost any weight either, but it is very depressing to step on that scale. Im gonna start drinking two or three protien shakes per day. Hopefully that will help.

Okie Dokie, Im gonna head out and read that script now. Ya’ll have a great Thursday.

Leaves!

April 10, 2010 2 comments

Has anyone noticed the leaves on the trees? I have. Unfortunately, we have been having amazing weather lately, but I can’t do anything in it. I’m pretty much hating my life for the next four to six weeks. Actually, probably more like eight. But it’s ok. Once I’m better I’m going to spend so much time outdoors – I hope.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to work on the next episode of “Jim the Stereotypical Writer.” My fiancee has classes this weekend, and she needs her computer for them. So, it will probably be Monday before I’m able to get to work on it.

Here is some super exciting news! Neil Gaiman’s newest book, “Instructions,” illustrated by Charles Vess is coming out in seventeen days. I’ve been stoked for this book since I found out that they were doing it, which was back in September, I believe. “Instructions,” if you don’t know who Neil Gaiman is, is one of his poems. It is instructions in case you get trapped inside a fantasy. It is my favorite poem by him. If you’d like to see the incredible book trailer, go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWRvqO1MjIs

I’ve had a few more scares lately, but thankfully have not had to go back to the hospital. If I can just stay away from there for the next four weeks, I will be so unbelievably happy. Obiously, I’ll have check ups, but other than that I want to stay away.

Oh, so I found something last night that made me smile. We were baby sitting two of my nephews, Jack and Alex. Jack is almost two and Alex is two months I believe. Anyway, Jack wanted to watch the Disney version of Robin Hood. Sadly, it was not in its case, so I went searching through a couple of cabinets, and I came across three or four VHS’s. I know, old school, right? But, we do happen to have a VHS player still. So, I stuck one in. It turned out to be a marathon of Even Stevens that I recorded back in 2004. I was so excited. Other than Boy Meets World and That 70′s Show, Even Stevens is my favorite tv show. We watched, or, I watched that instead. It made my night.

Okay, I’m going to eat my mashed potatoes and get to writing. I hope everyone has a spectacular weekend!

Home again and hopefully for good.

It was an insane and unexpected weekend. Friday night I was experiencing a lot of pain–excrutiating pain. So, instead of going back to the ER, I decided to fight the pain from about six o’clock till midnight. Finally, it got so bad that my parents insisted that I go to the ER. That was a horrible experience. Even though I got there around 12:20 a.m. I didn’t get any pain medication till around 2:30 a.m. The whole staff was pretty much busy due to a trama patient that came in  about 45 minutes after me. I’m not really sure what they were all doing during that 45 minutes, but… yeah.  The doctor never saw me because he was in surgery, but he ordered an x-ray and a CAT scan. They took the x-ray and when I got back to my room, because I couldn’t keep anything down, they had to stick a tube down my throat; it was horrible. After they inserted all the fluid into my stomach, which made me feel even worse, the doctor cancelled the CAT scan. Still, the nurses weren’t really sure what was wrong with me, and because the doctor couldn’t see me, we were not able to find out till the next morning. The worst part about the weekend, other than that night, was that I had to keep that tube down my throat for 2 whole days. I couldn’t move much because it made me naseated, and it irritated my throat so it hurt to swallow. But swallowing was the only way to keep yourself from gagging. It was rough to say the least. Hopefully I will not have any more complications until the second surgery.

Starting tomorrow, I’m going to start working on my next episode of Jim the Stereotypical Writer. I had hoped to have another one up by now, but all these complications have left me drained and not at home. I plan to have it up by this weekend.

My fiancee and I are just about to start reading a new book together. It’s by Lois Lowry, the Newbery winning author of The Giver and Number the Stars. The book is called The Gossamer. I have no idea what it is about, but it sounds interesting. I’ll let you know what I think when I finish it. If any of you have read it before and have comments on it, please let me know.

Alright, off to bed. I feel like an old person, but it does feel nice to go to bed so early. Plus, I can’t help it; I have no energy. Everyone have a spectacular evening.

I need thicker curtains

So last night was interesting. I woke up with a bit of a problem and had to fix it immediatly. For your sake, I won’t go into what that problem was, but it wasn’t much fun. But, I got it all taken care of with some help from my parents. I get by with a little help from my parents. Thankfully, I was even able to get back to sleep, which I didn’t expect to happen.

It is ten o’clock, the sun is shining, the sky is blue, and it’s already sixty degrees outside. I want to spend the day outside! Surgery sucks! Days like today also make me miss my SUV. I’d love to take it out to the lake and just relax. I can’t do that anymore. You can’t offroad in a Toyota Matrix. Well maybe, but you wouldn’t get far without tearing it to tiny bits. I like my car, so I wouldn’t do that to it. Plus, I’m technically not allowed to drive for a while. Did I mention surgery sucks?

Well, I got some writing done yesterday. That was incredibly exciting. Unfortunately, I’m still stuck on this chapter. That’s one of the hardest things about writing. You know exactly what happens, but you just can’t put it on the page quite right. I swear I must have erased and rewritten this chapter ten times by now. Oh well, that’s the way it goes. It’ll probably take another ten more times before I’m satisfied. I’ll get it though.

Alright, well I’m gonna go make stuff up now. I hope everyone has an incredible day. If it’s nice where you are, take a walk for me. If you have an SUV, go offroading at the lake for me. OK thanks!

home again and in one piece… sort of.

April 1, 2010 1 comment

Alright, time to get this blog going again. Sorry I have been gone for so long. A quick update for you. My surgery was last Tuesday and it went very well. I stayed in the hospital until Saturday and then came home. It is amazing to be home, and I have, appareantly, be recovering incredibly fast. I’ll take it! Unfortunately, I have been too tired to not only read and write, but to update on here as well. Today is the first day that I really feel up to writing, so I wanted to begin with this and then start on one of the many projects I’ve been working on. I’m so excited to get started again! My next surgery will be one month after I stop the prednisone. Lord willing, I will be stopping those horrible pills in eight days. I can’t wait till the second surgery; I feel like such a freak right now. According to the doctors, the second surgery will  not be too hard on the body. They say some people are even able to go home the next day. Hopefully that will be my case.

Well, that is my update. I’ll let you know if anything changes. Now to make stuff up. What should I work on: the screen play, the short story, or the novel?

Goodnight and dream well.

March 22, 2010 1 comment

So I’ve just finished my project. Unfortunately, I am not computer savvy whatsoever, so I can’t upload it tonight. My fiancee, who is knowledgeable of such things, will help me put it up tomorrow.

The name of my idea is called “Jim the Stereotypical Writer.” It’s the first episode I suppose you could say. Again, some of you might see it as funny. Some of you might see it as stupid. And some of you won’t see it at all. Either way I had fun putting it together. It was my first time to use a computer drawing pad. I’m sure it has an actual name but I have no idea what that might be. On top of it being my first time using it, I will also let you know that I’m not an illustrator–at all. I’m a horrible drawer. I’m a horrible painter. But, the art is terrible, and I love it haha. Anyways check back tomorrow. It will most likely be up towards the evening due to school and hospital visits, but it should be posted.

Goodnight and dream well!
